Introduction

IMPAC develops, produces and distributes high-quality instruments for non-contact measurement of temperatures from -50 to 4000°C. The devices operate efficiently even under the toughest conditions.
IMPAC has evolved from BRAUN AG, which started manufacturing precision measuring devices in 1958. Since then, more than 100,000 measuring devices and systems bearing the brand name INFRATHERM have been installed around the globe.
By focusing on our clients' requirements and thanks to our systematically developed sales organization, IMPAC has become a leading manufacturer of pyrometers which are sold worldwide. IMPAC stands for quality through careful monitoring and continuous improvement of all processes within the enterprise, documented by regular VDE certification according to ISO 9001:2008. Certificate
Integration with MIKRON Infrared, Inc. in November 2002 - also an ISO-certified enterprise - has given IMPAC greater access to the American market. The IMPAC product range is complemented with MIKRON's infrared pyrometer series, high-precision thermal cameras and a unique selection of calibration sources. More than 160 specialists are available at all times to provide clients from all parts of the world with specialized know-how. The managing board, the technical competence centre and the management for the worldwide sale of pyrometric equipment are based in Frankfurt am Main, the heart of Germany.

Internationality

By handling inquiries from all parts of the world about pyrometers, system solutions, industry-specific solutions or special applications, IMPAC has gathered a great deal of experience from home and abroad. This is reflected in the consistent high quality and reliability of its products.

Delivery program

The current IMPAC product portfolio comprises temperature measuring devices for practically any application. The product series range from analogue temperature sensors up to digital, bus-compatible reference pyrometers. On request, IMPAC develops customized solutions if there is no standard device which meets the requirements of a particular application. Other strengths of the IMPAC production program include modern calibrating devices, parameter setting software and data logging as well as an extensive array of electronic and mechanical accessories.

Performance data

IMPAC pyrometers measure the smallest measuring areas with diameters as small as 0.2 mm. The instruments have an extremely fast response time, the minimum being 10 µs, and are highly accurate (from 0.2% uncertainty of measurement). Since temperature is measured without physical contact, there are absolutely no reactive effects or wear. Extreme temperatures of aggressive, moving or not readily targetable materials can be determined with precision by IMPAC devices - even in inaccessible or remote places.

Special and industrial applications

Numerous customer specifications and special applications developed for various industries have resulted in IMPAC solutions that go beyond the conventional. The know-how of our staff is based on thorough analysis and review of applications already implemented, as well as communicating this expertise to other members of staff and drawing on the ongoing research work of our R&D departments.

System solutions

IMPAC systems GmbH supplies complete solutions for temperature monitoring, analysis and documentation of specific applications. The tried-and-tested TQCS temperature quality control system, for instance, can be used to conveniently network and monitor up to 30 forging machines. The optimized TQCS calibration module enables calibration of built-in pyrometers to be checked automatically without interrupting production.

Calibration sources

An extensive range of blackbodies sets the calibration standard according to DIN/ISO and DKD. The devices feature excellent stability in all temperature ranges and operate between -20 and 3000°C. The black bodies have a digital temperature display and enable sensors to be calibrated within just a few minutes thanks to active temperature control.

Process thermographie
Portable or stationary infrared thermal cameras enable temperature differences to be represented as black-and-white or color schemes on a monitor. The resolution is extremely high and temperature differences are represented in real time. A class of devices has been designed especially for high-temperature applications. Images and data can be stored for subsequent temperature analysis.

Flame monitoring

Fast, special-purpose measuring devices accommodated in explosion-proof housings are used for monitoring pilot flames.

Research and education

Thanks to their accuracy, speed and first-class measuring fields, IMPAC pyrometers are instruments of choice in research laboratories and universities. Various analogue and digital outputs and a selection of adjustment and calibration options featured by the extensive selection of devices leave nothing to be desired.

Industry

No less important than the technical strengths of IMPAC pyrometers are their reliability and long service life, especially in tough environments. Deciding in favor of non-contact temperature measurement has a direct bearing on improving product quality and production reliability, which, in turn, helps promote customer satisfaction. IMPAC pyrometers help reduce production and environmental costs and optimize conditions for the smooth operation of intelligent open and closed-loop control and measuring systems.

Service and calibration

IMPAC checks, calibrates and repairs pyrometers. A compliance certificate or a calibration certificate with two or more optionally selectable measuring points can be issued if required. Our on-site service is available for starting up or adjusting systems if a problem should occur which the user cannot solve.

24 month warranty

IMPAC's confidence in its products is reflected in the warranty period of two years that has been offered on all instruments since 1998.

Pyrometry specialist

Pyrometry is for non-contact infrared temperature measurement. The use of this technology, which has many advantages vis-à-vis contact temperature measuring devices, has been growing progressively in industry and research in recent decades. In many cases, all aspects of temperature measurement can be solved with pyrometry, which makes it possible to raise productivity by shortening processing time, etc. For over 45 years, IMPAC Infrared GmbH has played a substantial role in promoting this development and regularly setting new standards, such as the UPP (Universal Pyrometer Protocol) for pyrometer-specific parameters.
Fibre optic pyrometers

IMPAC conducts R&D and manufacturing work in Germany and has established itself as an internationally recognized pyrometry specialist for research and industry. Together with the complementary product portfolio of MIKRON Infrared, Inc., IMPAC provides a comprehensive range of products covering all fields of pyrometry. IMPAC symbolizes ongoing development of competence and know-how for non-contact temperature measuring technology, and its innovative products will continue to provide a decisive impetus to the market.
